SHIPPING INFORMATION is available
here. And once again, please know that we are trying our best to both provide for our
customers' needs in a timely manner and comply with the laws and directives of the state of Ohio.
While our store is closed, we are operating with a staff of one and are following state guidelines for
safety during this difficult time. Thanks for your understanding, Bobcats!March 25th, 2020WE ARE SHIPPING AGAIN.Having consulted the State of Ohio Department of Health regarding the
"stay at home" order, we are resuming our website and shipping operations
effective today. While our retail store continues to be closed, we will have a staff of
one processing and shipping website orders on an every/other day basis, and
will continue to follow rules for a safe workspace. Our consultation with the
state gives us a new interpretation that - on this basis - it is lawful for our business to
continue shipping website orders. If that interpretation changes (again) we
will post here. Please note, we will be shipping via STANDARD, GROUND SHIPPING
methods only. We will NOT be shipping via expedited means while
our store continues to be closed. Also note that there will be an extra
day of processing time necessary, so orders should ship out one to three
days after you place the order. This, of course, is still subject to change as we continue to try to
figure out how best to do the right thing during this difficult time.
We at College Book Store want to follow the law and directives of the
state of Ohio and will continue to do that as best as we possibly can,
erring on the side of caution. Thanks for your understanding, and thanks for shopping online with us
if you are so inclined. We're all in this together, Bobcats!March 23rd, 2020
Unfortunately, with the state of Ohio mandating a shutdown of non-essential businesses
at the end of the day March 23rd, we believe this prohibits us from legally
processing and shipping website orders during the shutdown, which currently goes
through April 6th.As we understand the order, as of tomorrow we, as a non-essential business are
required to cease all but "minimum basic operations"[sec.2] which consists only of
"maintaining the value of (our) inventory, preserving the condition of (our building's)
physical plant and equipment, ensuring security, and processing payroll and employee
benefits."[sec. 13]You can read the entire mandate here. So, while we would LIKE to continue to ship out mail orders, as far as we
can tell we are not permitted to do so. (If that interpretation changes, or we are
informed otherwise, we'll post an update)*HOWEVER* ...
If you are bored at home, if you know a high school senior that's OU bound, if you
miss Athens, if you're inclined to do a little early Christmas shopping online -- whatever -- and
you're not in a hurry to receive your shipment, please BY ALL MEANS shop and order now
on our website. You will *NOT* be charged anything on the order until we're ready to ship it out,
and the orders will be filled and shipped immediately in the order received just as soon
as we're able to do so. (And, hey, you'll be helping out a local Athens, Ohio, business that's
served OUr community since 1952.)This, of course, along with virtually everything in this crazy time, is subject to change
at any time. But for now, if you place an order online with us, we will queue it up and rock
it out just as soon as we're certain it's safe and legal for us to do so.Follow us on Facebook for updates.
(By the way, if you've just placed an order with us over the weekend of March 20-22, it
should be shipping out March 23rd as planned.)Thanks, Bobcats, and remember: We're all in this together.
